Creep Out...
So, I was out picking Strawberries just now, and as I reached into to grab a nice, ripe berry, my hand brushed something that felt a bit odd. I cleared the leaves away, to find a two-foot long snake skin. The patterning was too faint and faded to make out, but it didn't have stripes like a Garter or Blue Racer. The mottling could have been from a King, Milk or, I fear, a Cottonmouth or Copperhead. Not enough of the head skin left to check for "pits," or even shape of eyes or head. I don't like that sort of uncertainty.
Needless to say, until I see the snake, I don't think I'll be sticking my bare hands into the berry patch for a while. Time to garden with the 9mm loaded with rat-shot.
Gah!
