Occupy Lansing report from Someone Else
Other than three days I was back at home, I have been Occupying Lansing (Michigan) since October 15th, and will be here for a while longer.
Our camp has been evolving steadily, people joining up, others going home, but for the most part we have been keeping steady at about 25-30 people per night actually camping out here in Reutter Park. Our group is actually quite diverse in age, economic background (well, all of us ARE the 99% of course), although there is a sparsity of women and minorities actually occupying with us (outside of the homeless who had been residing in Reutter Park before our Occupation began).
Our relationship with the city of Lansing, and the police department has remained cordial and friendly, several of us on a first name basis with the two police captains of the LPD, as well as several of the officers and lieutenants. The community has been extraordinarily generous and giving, supporting us with food and other sorts of supplies. One local resident has even set up a $250 a week donation of lacto-vegetarian food (to be used only at the East Lansing Food Co-Op, so it is all organic), and the UAW Local 602 will be opening their kitchen up to us to cook and store food starting tomorrow. Other unions have been donating as individuals as well, but nothing I know of from the unions as a whole, at least not yet.
All in all, things are pretty good, and getting better. Solidarity and love to all! Support your nearest Occupation (check Facebook and Twitter for the nearest ones).

We are looking into become a non-profit organization (legally speaking at least) so that we will be able to receive monetary donations. We are also

For those in or near the Lansing area that wish to bring us a meal (or would like to order pizza to be sent to us), please go to Take Them A Meal and register for a meal on the schedule there. Please do this at least a day or two before your intended meal so we don't start cooking a big dinner just before the food you are supplying arrives in camp.
Finally, I would like to tell everyone, on behalf of our camp and all the other Occupation encampments across America, we love all of you who show your support. Thank you, and keep up the good work! SOLIDARITY and DEMOCRACY NOW!
