A Message to All Police Officers From A Former LAPD Officer and Occupy Wall Street Supporter | OWSnews.org

I wish all police officers in this country, and around the world, would listen to what this man has to say, as well as look at the examples that the Albany New York PD, the Lansing Michigan PD, and the NY State Police are setting, before they obey the dishonorable orders of their supervisors to attack unarmed peaceful civilian protestors.

As a former LAPD officer, I created this video to address those police officers — and their leadership — who have been in violent and brutal attacks at some of the Occupy Wall Street protest camps in the U.S. and around the world.

Occupy Lansing report from Someone Else

Other than three days I was back at home, I have been Occupying Lansing (Michigan) since October 15th, and will be here for a while longer.

Our camp has been evolving steadily, people joining up, others going home, but for the most part we have been keeping steady at about 25-30 people per night actually camping out here in Reutter Park. Our group is actually quite diverse in age, economic background (well, all of us ARE the 99% of course), although there is a sparsity of women and minorities actually occupying with us (outside of the homeless who had been residing in Reutter Park before our Occupation began).

Our relationship with the city of Lansing, and the police department has remained cordial and friendly, several of us on a first name basis with the two police captains of the LPD, as well as several of the officers and lieutenants. The community has been extraordinarily generous and giving, supporting us with food and other sorts of supplies. One local resident has even set up a $250 a week donation of lacto-vegetarian food (to be used only at the East Lansing Food Co-Op, so it is all organic), and the UAW Local 602 will be opening their kitchen up to us to cook and store food starting tomorrow. Other unions have been donating as individuals as well, but nothing I know of from the unions as a whole, at least not yet.

All in all, things are pretty good, and getting better. Solidarity and love to all! Support your nearest Occupation (check Facebook and Twitter for the nearest ones).

Check out our website: http://occupylansing.us/

We are looking into become a non-profit organization (legally speaking at least) so that we will be able to receive monetary donations. We are also

Occupy Lansing

For those in or near the Lansing area that wish to bring us a meal (or would like to order pizza to be sent to us), please go to Take Them A Meal and register for a meal on the schedule there. Please do this at least a day or two before your intended meal so we don't start cooking a big dinner just before the food you are supplying arrives in camp.

Finally, I would like to tell everyone, on behalf of our camp and all the other Occupation encampments across America, we love all of you who show your support. Thank you, and keep up the good work! SOLIDARITY and DEMOCRACY NOW!

Schadenfreude Im Europa...

And so it begins...

So, G-Pap has called for a referendum from The People of Greece, to toss away their Sovereignty, and accept punishing Austerity at the hands of Hedge Fund Managers-- like Jon Corzine's MF Global; or to say "Fuck it," and default, and go back to stand-alone Greece, but still covered by NATO, and other agreements. Drachmas, again... and the great unknown save for Iceland, who landed well. Greece has all that and more to get itself right.

The vote looks set for Early December. The drama played out in the Finance Media will be heavy, and passionate, and apocryphal, and full of bullshit. I agree with Atrios, Greece should skip all the crap, and just go Full Iceland. Why is Sarkozy making these headline statements?

via Zero Hedge

UPDATE: ES -5pts, EUR -25pips *MERKEL SAYS EU PREPARED FOR ANY OUTCOME IN GREECE REFERENDUM

Just headlines, via Bloomberg, for now as Juncker and Sarkozy play good-cop / bad-cop:

*SARKOZY SAYS REFERENDUM WILL DECIDE GREECE'S EURO FUTURE
*SARKOZY SAYS REFERENDUM WILL BE AROUND DEC. 4 OR DEC. 5
*SARKOZY SAYS CAN'T HAVE 'PROLONGED PERIOD OF UNCERTAINTY'
*SARKOZY SAYS 'WE ARE READY TO AID GREECE'
*SARKOZY SAYS GREECE WON'T GET `SINGLE CENT' WITHOUT ENACTMENT
*JUNCKER SAYS AID PAYMENT DEPENDS ON GREEK VOTE
*GREECE HAS `LOST 8 BILLION. THAT IS A PITY,' JUNCKER SAYS

The Daily Show Extended Interview Of Michael Black...

Michael Black is a well-respected writer. He took a tour of those countries that have been bankrupted in this Global Financial Collapse. He spent time in Iceland, Ireland, Greece, and elsewhere, and then took a look at California. His new book, "Boomerang," is his journal of his "Bankruptcy Tourism" trek. Part 2 of this interview is pure gold, and so correct.

Michael Lewis talks about touring bankrupt countries in order to understand the vast differences among their societies.

Greece's G-Pap Allegedly Replaces His Military Leaders With Cronies...

Seemed worthy of note considering the latest news...

via The Telegraph

As Greek poltics grew ever more chaotic strong political protests erupted as the government moved to replace military chiefs with officers seen as more supportive of George Papandreou, the prime minister.

In a surprise development, Panos Beglitis, Defence Minister, a close confidante of Mr Papandreou, summoned the chiefs of the army, navy and air-force and announced that they were being replaced by other senior officers.

Neither the minister nor any government spokesman offered an explanation for the sudden, sweeping changes, which were scheduled to be considered on November 7 as part of a regular annual review of military leadership retirements and promotions. Usually the annual changes do not affect the entire leadership.

“Under no circumstances will these changes be accepted, at a time when the government is collapsing and has not even secured a vote of confidence,” said an official announcement by the opposition conservative New Democracy party.

“It has no moral or real authority any more, and such surprise moves can only worsen the crisis currently sweeping the country”.

I suspect that G-Pap is calling 1-800-DIE-BOLD right about now.

The Long Arc Of Jon Corzine...

Just another one in that long, infamous line...

via Wiki

Jon Stevens Corzine (born January 1, 1947) is the former CEO of Goldman Sachs and a one time American politician, who served as the 54th Governor of New Jersey from 2006 to 2010. A Democrat, Corzine served five years of a six-year U.S. Senate term representing New Jersey before being elected Governor in 2005. He was defeated for re-election in 2009 by Republican Chris Christie.[2] In March 2010, Corzine was named chairman and CEO of MF Global Inc., a financial services firm specializing in futures brokerage that filed for bankruptcy protection in October 2011.[3]

Sad, that THIS is how it all ends for him.

As damned disappointing as John Edwards. His biggest investment was in Sovereign Collateralized Debt Securities. (CDSs)

Keep your eyes on that Greek Referendum vote, folks-- The Big Ugly is coming.

via NYT

Regulators are examining whether MF Global diverted some customer funds to support its own trades as the firm teetered on the brink of collapse.

The discovery that money could not be located might simply reflect sloppy internal controls at MF Global. It is still unclear where the money went. At first, as much as $950 million was believed to be missing, but as the firm sorted through its bankruptcy, that figure fell to less than $700 million by late Monday, the people briefed on the matter said. Additional funds are expected to trickle in over the coming days.

But the investigation, which is in its earliest stages, may uncover something more intentional and troubling.

And yet, "Occupy Wall Street" is a mystery to the Media. heavy sigh

The Inn At The Crossroads...

So, I loves me some George R. R. Martin's "A Song Of Ice And Fire," series, from which the HBO series, "Game of Thrones" is based. I also love food, cooking and eating.

In his books, Martin is keen to describe in succulent detail, every morsel of every meal the characters eat. The fine folks at The Inn At The Crossroads take the time to look up those recipes, or make their own, if there is no historical recipe to re-create.

And then, they post elegantly presented photos, and the full recipe for you to make the dish(es) as well. From Soups to Spirits; from salads to Full Suppers, The In At The Crossroads has it all.

Welcome to The Inn at the Crossroads!

We are two big fans of George R.R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire series. We are also fans of food. What, then, would be more natural than to combine them into one fabulous blog?

In the coming months, we will be delving deep into the world of Westeros and far over the Narrow Sea to explore the mouthwatering cuisines favored by the fantastic cultures in the books. Where appropriate, some recipes will be two-fold: A modern recipe, and a traditional recipe more in keeping with the quasi-medieval world of the series.

So loosen your belts, sharpen your knives, and whet your palate for the foods of Westeros…

Bottoms up!

I had the day off, today, and made some Black Bread I added a pie plate of boiling water to the oven to make this bread's crust thick and chewy), and a
Bowl Of Brown (I substituted two dressed Quails from the guy up the road ($10, keep the change) for the Game Hen, and substituted some Lamb for the goat, and instead of the Round Steak, I had a Ribeye end, and some cut-up Filet Tips). The house smells awesome!

I made one BIG lump of Black Bread, 1/2 the dough, and two smaller lumps. I'm going to serve my brown in the big loaf, and use the cutout bread for full soppage.

It's Pear Harvest time, and since they are cheap right now, I think I am going to follow their recipe for Pear Brandy this weekend.

Oh, I am going to be making Pierogi this weekend, with two co-workers, K and R. They are both of Polish decent, and I hope that we'll have some video to show for all this, as the recipe that have I posted here seemed to only scare the children with its seeming complexity.

Cool, long nights are getting me back in the kitchen again. Time to start brewing some Beer, too.

I picked up 20-pounds of Russet Potatoes at the Farmer's market this past weekend for $5.00. So, I need to can up about 15-pounds in different cuts: cubed, wedged, stew-chunked, and coin-cut. Looks like Sunday for canning, and Saturday is Pierogi Day.

Placing Beer-brewing order this week.

Happiness is eating and drinking the good things you've spent hours toiling in the hot kitchen to prepare. The toil makes it tastier!

Good eats!!!
